With the mid-term elections behind us and looking foreword ahead to the next election in 2016. The debate in the LP is to run another Presidential candidate. As Tip O’Neill, former Speaker of the House was quoted,” All politics are local”. And as 3 time Presidential candidate and 13 term Congressman from Texas, Ron Paul, has stated, the” powers lay in the State government , not the Federal government”. The LP ,both National and State level, must look to develop “outreach” programs. Once these programs are up and running, then the new people are giving simple literature about the party or the issues that concerns them. I must confess that ,i was in the Army in the late 80’s early 90’s. So i look at this like a how the Army gets new recruits and makes Soldiers out of them. After they are sworn in , they are off to Basic Combat Training, where the individual is first at The Reception Station. The Reception Station is where, they get their haircuts, medical ,dental, ID cards and uniforms. Then off to Basic Combat Training, there for 8 weeks a Drill Sergeant is preparing them for a new life as a member of a team. History of the Army, Drill and Ceremony, Rifle Marksmanship, Military Bearing, Teamwork, and Physical fitness . So the LP locals should be on task to do such a ” Basic Training” type meeting. Give the new people basic info on the History of the LP, Meaning of the word ” Libertarian”. Meaning of the words like “Liberty” and “freedom”. And build a cadre’ of Libertarians. This can be done, if done correctly.( Thanks Sean!) If the LP National and State Parties, including local parties cannot get anything going, the Libertarian Party will not be around much longer. I will go rogue and start my own political party, it will be called “The Annapolis Tea Party”.
